Note to fans of the Twilight Saga: Robert Pattinson doesn't actually live in Forks, Washington. Neither does Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner or any member of the cast.

Still, the geniuses behind reality TV have decided to set a new show in the town simply because events from the Twilight saga unfold there.

Said producer Zig Gauthier about casting for the untitled project:

“We’re not going up there looking to cast people who have claims to the supernatural. We want people who have a true connection to the community. We want to avoid people with outlandish claims.”

Okay. So then what's the goal of this seemingly inane idea?

"To peel back another layer of the onion that is Forks and see what the real people there are like," Gauthier said.
Therefore, to sum up: Plans are underway for a reality show about random people that live in a town only known nationally because a fictional book series is based there.

Will you watch this nonsense?

Just two weeks and three episodes into its first season, Jersey Shore has become a bona fide hit for MTV. Not that its cast is at all surprised or humble.

The reality show's following grew to 2.1 million viewers last week, a 50-percent bump over the two-hour premiere, which sparked some serious buzz.

Whether the show can sustain that growth - are the ratings just a result of early hype, or are people actually getting hooked? - remains to be seen.

Regardless, the Jersey Shore cast is feeling pretty good about things these days. Good enough, at least, to talk some sh!t about another MTV show.

"We're better than The Hills," Nicole Polizzi, a.k.a. Snooki, said. "It's all real."

That's right. Even other MTV show casts think The Hills is fake.

A couple months ago, Taylor Lautner said he was uncomfortable with his shirtless scenes in New Moon and might not go topless again for awhile.

It was a troubling announcement, but it also appears to have been a premature one:

Lautner has been chosen to anchor Paramount's upcoming Max Steel movie. The title character is an action hero based on the toys and cartoon series that featured an extreme-sports enthusiast who becomes a crime-fighting machine.

The role will likely include many shirtless shots of Taylor, as Steel's abilities include super strength and invisibility.

Depending on the success of the first film, this also may be turned into a long-running franchise. If so, Lautner himself will be anything but invisible in Hollywood for years to come.

It's both an exciting and a sad time for Twilight Saga fans.

New Moon is dominating the box office and stars such as Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner are still making the publicity rounds.

But that won't last for long, as the cast is likely to go into hiding for a few months until they are needed again prior to the June 2010 release of Eclipse. That's why fans need to soak up Lautner, wet and seductive, on the cover of Rolling Stone.

They also need to hang on every word Pattinson utters these days, as any of them may be his last for awhile. Take a look at what he told Time magazine in a recent interview...

On comparisons to Edward: "No matter how famous I get as an individual, it's always evened — or even surpassed — by the fame of Edward Cullen. That's got to mean something. I don't mind that. That's just the way it is."
On reaction to the Twilight Saga: "There must be this weird, primal thing in people that they react to... the load of vampire stories coming out now have the exact same story line. This doesn't have the same reaction. I think it's all about being part of a club... I think people genuinely appreciate that they are part of something."

On his status as a generational crush: "There's no living up to it. I think the major fear is just fighting too hard against it... but I don't feel the need to fight against it. I've never tried to pander to any kind of audience. I've tried to make the films as intelligent and uncheesy as you could. And I've tried to make them the best they can be."

On going outside his bubble: "You can go out. The only difficulty is when there are people waiting outside the exits where you are going. You will get followed. It's the following that's the worst part."

He may be a notorious womanizer, but as John Mayer sees it, he's holding back, in large part because of that label he can't seem to shed (fairly or otherwise):

MJ's homicide investigation is taking so much longer than expected, because, as one law enforcement source connected with the case said, "We've had bad luck with big cases like O.J. in the past, and we don't want to repeat those mistakes."

O.J. Simpson, many of you surely recall, was acquitted of double murder in 1995 despite a seemingly air tight case - one that unraveled after various blunders.

Fortunately, O.J. got his 13 years later after he kidnapped and robbed some people. But the police want to make sure Murray doesn't slip through their fingers.
The source also pointed to the Robert Blake case, which some experts believe was also botched. But the source added, "There is not a problem with the case."

"Time is on our side. We want to do this right."

There is no pressure to speed things up, department insiders say, and as a result, the L.A. County D.A.'s office and the LAPD have been meticulously working as a unit to "anticipate defense strategies and prepare for them."

The D.A.'s office is actively involved, requesting lots of info from the LAPD as the investigation proceeds. Among the issues they are still yet to fully reconcile:

* Officials have keyed in on Applied Pharmacy in Las Vegas, and want to make sure there were no other pharmacies sending Propofol to Dr. Conrad Murray.
* Another issue: authorities have gone back to their medical experts for more input, as "strategies have changed" in a case they call "very complicated."

As for when the investigation will conclude, authorities are saying they'd like to end it "before the Christmas holidays," but that could get pushed to January.

This just in: Kourtney Kardashian will eventually have her baby!

Step-father Brunce Jenner assures fans that there's no chance the socialite will remain knocked up forever. He told E! News:

"I have great confidence she will get through this - that baby will be born."

While phrased oddly at first, Jenner was actually offering a few words of warning for Kourtney, adding: "Then the real tough stuff starts for her. You've got a little baby there for 24 hours a day, for the next 20 years!"

It's actually closer to 18 years for most parents, Bruce. But you don't have any experience with your children actually attending college.
As for Kourtney, she's sick of packing on pounds.

"I weigh myself every day," she said. "I've gained 26 pounds since getting pregnant... I can't wait to sit down already. It's hard carrying extra weight."

Yesterday, we reported that Vivid is putting out a Shauna Sand sex tape, but that Shauna is lawyering up, claiming they don't have permission to release it.

She admits it is just one of many sex tapes she has made with her current boyfriend, who we're pretty sure is Romain Chavent. Vivid says it's got the rights.

"We were approached by a third party with the footage" and are "comfortable with our legal position releasing the footage," the entertainment company stated.

Shauna's own stepdaughter, Shayne Lamas, called her out on this obvious PR stunt, the likes of which we have seen and reported on countless times before.

As you can see, the footage from this "private" Shauna Sand video is of superior quality than some movies and TV shows, and the still photos are airbrushed:

As the old adage goes, if a camera crew films you from multiple angles and you stare blankly at their lenses, as if the guy isn't even there, is it even a sex tape?

In any case, we're pretty sure that soon enough, we'll be asked to remove the pictures because we are violating her right to privacy or some such nonsense.

It's a flimsy legal claim, as she clearly wants us to see her getting violated in an entirely different way, but we'll comply because it's not worth the legal fees.

What is it with stars filming themselves while getting it on?

So many sex tape scandals have dominated the news in recent years that this week's Eric Dane tape doesn't even make the list. Partly because there was no sex on it, but still. That was a naked and odd display, but not really scandalous.

Other sex tapes, however, have provided ample gossip fodder, unintentional comedy and occasional lawsuits. Some of the videos featured attractive stars, others did not. Some salaciously derailed careers, while others launched them.

A couple of years a back, Vanessa made the same mistake and later she apologized for her mistake but it seems that the 20-year-old sensation has not learn from it. Vanessa was snapped nude with her mobile phone and now the pictures are circulating around the globe on internet. On these raunchy pictures, Vanessa has not said anything yet.

Some sources said that it is hard to digest that why these nude pictures hit internet when Vanessa’s latest film “Bandslam”, is going to release on August 14, 2009. Is this anything like a publicity strategy?

The Obama Joker poster is beginning to appear on off-ramps and underpasses in the Hollywood area. Who made and distributed copies of the poster is unknown.

While some find this to be harmless, even a clever play in the "Hope" poster circulating widely during his bid for the White House, others are a bit critical of Barack Obama being likened to a sadistic terrorist (albeit a fictional one).

Rachelle Lefevre will no longer be seen as Victoria after "The Twilight Saga's New Moon" as report comes in that she will be replaced by Bryce Dallas Howard in "The Twilight Saga's Eclipse". Summit Entertainment made the casting change announcement through a press release dated Tuesday, July 28.

"We are incredibly happy that Bryce has agreed to come into the franchise," the studio's President of Worldwide Production and Acquisitions Erik Feig stated over the replacement. "Rachelle brought 'Victoria' to great screen life and Bryce will bring a new dimension to the character. The franchise is lucky to have such a talented actress as Bryce coming in to fill the role."

Providing more info on the reason behind Lefevre's exit, Summit pointed out that the 30-year-old could not continue her involvement in the vampire saga due to scheduling conflicts with another commitment she has made. In August, the month "Eclipse" is scheduled to start shooting, the Canadian actress is expected to join the production of her other feature project "Barney's Vision".

Bryce Dallas Howard is known as director Ron Howard's daughter. She has appeared in "Spider-Man 3" as Gwen Stacy as well as in two of M. Night Shyamalan's feature films, "The Village" and "Lady in the Water". She recently was seen in the big screen portraying John Connor's wife, Kate, in "Terminator Salvation".

Now, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob, with the knowledge that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf. Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are expected to return as Edward and Bella.

As loyal celebrity gossip followers and ardent fans of Kim Kardashian, our staff was shocked by her break-up with Reggie Bush.

It sounds like we weren't alone.

"I loved them as a couple," Kim's close friend, Brittny Gastineau, told People yesterday afternoon. "I thought they were great. I always said that they were the same person. I never met a couple who were so great. They clicked well together."
